Three years ago, we started Clave with a single conviction: self-custody does not have to be hard. It can be as seamless as any great fintech product, without compromising on security, and without compromising on decentralization.
Today, we are announcing that Clave is joining Paribu, Türkiye's leading digital asset platform and a pioneer in institutional-grade custody solutions.
This is not the end of what we built. It is the dedication of what we always intended to build.
What we built together
When we launched Clave, we wanted to prove that a self-custodial wallet could feel like a consumer product that anyone could actually enjoy using. We shipped the first production-ready, passkey-based mobile wallet. Your phone became your hardware wallet, with no seed phrases, no friction, no compromise.
We contributed RIP-7212 and EIP-7951 to bring passkey-native authentication to Ethereum and its L2 ecosystem. We made DeFi accessible in a single tap: gasless, secure, and fully onchain. We built unified balance management across multiple L2 networks. We collaborated with the Ethereum Foundation on account abstraction and implemented ZK-email for the first time in industry. We built a wallet where users could store, spend, earn, and trade, all in one place, all without giving up ownership of their assets.
In under a year, Clave reached over 20,000 users and $10 million in total value locked. More importantly, it was used to buy coffee at Devconnect Istanbul, merchandise at ETH Denver, cocktails at ETH Brussels and DevCon Bangkok, and smoothies at ETH Berlin. It became part of people's real lives.
That was always the point.
Why Paribu
Paribu is the pioneer of Türkiye's blockchain and crypto industry, already serving millions of users across both consumers and enterprises. They are at the forefront in institutional-grade custody solutions, operating at a scale that few crypto companies in the region have achieved. They have the regulatory standing, the infrastructure, and the ambition to extend that reach across MENA, Europe, and globally.
The next wave of onchain adoption will not come primarily from crypto-native users. It will come from the millions of people who already hold digital assets on platforms like Paribu but have never experienced DeFi, self-custody, or onchain staking. Bringing those users onchain safely and seamlessly, without them having to become experts first, was always the mission Clave was built for.
Every conversation we had with the Paribu team confirmed what we believed from early on: our goals are aligned. They are not just an exchange. They are a technology company with a clear vision for what onchain finance can become, with the execution capability to make it real.
What this means for Clave users
We know this is the question that matters most to you, and we want to be direct about it.
Clave continues to operate as usual. Your funds are safe. Your keys remain yours. Your experience with the app is unchanged. Nothing about your self-custody setup has been altered by this announcement. That is by design; it is the foundation we built everything on.
As for the future: we are actively working with Paribu to determine how Clave evolves and integrates with their broader product ecosystem. Clave may grow into something larger than what it is today. It may become the bridge that brings millions of new users onchain for the first time. We are not ready to draw the full picture yet, but we are drawing it carefully and with intention.
What we can promise is this: Clave users will be the first to know, and the first to benefit from whatever comes next.
Thank you
None of this would have been possible without Matter Labs. Alex, Omar, and the entire team were more than our lead investors. They were our earliest believers, our technical partners, and the people who stood with us before we had users, before we had TVL, when Clave was still just a hackathon project and a lot of conviction. They gave us the foundation to ship RIP-7212 and build on ZKsync, and they were in our corner through every difficult moment. We are genuinely lucky to have had them.
To Lukas and the Safe Foundation, Fede and Lambda Class, Mirana Ventures, and every angel investor who backed us through the hard times: your trust carried us further than you may know.

To our team: Alim, Farhad, Tahir, Nurlan, Ismayil, Mami, Doğan, Hamza, Eren, Zeynep. Each of you brought something irreplaceable to Clave. You showed up every day with craft and commitment and turned what could have been just another wallet into something people genuinely love. Thank you for giving this everything you had.
And to every person who used Clave, gave us feedback, filed a bug report, or simply rooted for us from the sidelines: this announcement belongs to you as much as to us. Your honest feedback, especially the hardest of it, made us better every single day. We are honored to have built something you actually enjoyed using.
The bar is higher now.
We are ready.
